Who Am I?
Lately I've been receiving a lot of questions about who I am, background, passion, how has Human Design changed my life, etc. Understandably so, I popped up one day posting content on a newly formed website and YouTube, and I created a course called Inner Decision Making, but who is this guy who seemingly randomly showed up on the internet?
I am using this post (and I'll likely post this in some form on YouTube as well) to answer these questions and hopefully give you more information than you wanted about myself, so let's get started.
Firstly, my name is Chris(topher) Morris, hey what's up? As you may have noticed, I am branding myself online because I truly love sharing all manner of personal experiences and knowledge that I've found interesting and useful in my own life experiment. There isn't much to talk about before college other than I grew up in a pretty typical American southern middle class home. The one thing that will make sense later on is this, I always had this question (although it was unconscious in my younger years) Why is life this way for me? Something never felt right as I was growing up. Now read on to understand why.
College is where I really began to notice my talent and passion for investigating how things work. I began with engineering because I had a knack for math and physics. I enjoyed every minute of those days studying math, physics, and engineering, but those pesky classes like government, English, and other electives really annoyed me, but hey it is what it is.
I ended up with two engineering degrees but primarily using one, mechanical engineering (no, I didn't complete two engineering degrees in four years, it took more like six but hey I'm weird like that as you may have notice or you may notice later on).
Now, this is where the real interesting part begins. My first job was as a mechanical reliability engineer, and I was just excited to get that first professional job because job hunting at the time was not easy for me. Anyway, I was like wtf is reliability? This is where I learned to apply engineering concepts to existing equipment in an attempt to help it run smoother to get more life out of it. There are a lot of tools that go into that, failure mode and effects analysis, root cause analysis, best practices for maintenance/preventative/predictive, etc.
I was really enjoying this job and I had a couple more jobs after that within similar rolls where I deepened my knowledge around reliability. One of those jobs is where I was put in a situation that, looking back on it, forced me to begin questioning my life decisions due to feeling way to much frustration, anger, rage, and no more love for what I was doing. I began to turn that reliability knowledge inward and started looking at myself. Asking questions like, why do I feel this way consistently? is there a better way I could be living my life? is that even possible? There had to be a better way, because honestly, I was physically driving myself to a hospital bed if I didn't make changes.
During this time I was diagnosed with situational depression. Once that happened, I began searching the internet for answers. I found spiritual models, self-improvement models (what a joke), and life coaches who worked with different modalities. I learned about things like Myers Briggs, Enneagram, Maslowe's Hierarchy, Spiral Dynamics, and those were ok but somewhere deep down in my stubbornness I knew they were temporary fixes.
Eventually I hired a life coach who had a 12 month program called Making Money Doing What You Love, and that really sounded like something I was looking for. His program was absolutely amazing, and in hindsight was the year the direction for my life really shifted, or began to shift anyway. I began feeling my body more, emotions and sensations were flooding my mind, the whole spectrum good and bad, it was almost overwhelming. It was during this time where I was bumping into Human Design and that one has really stuck with me ever since.
My body began processing all manner of deeply held emotions, fears, shame, guilt, and other traumas I was literally holding in the cells of my body. I have a history of being a very vivid dreamer, and these memories and sensations bubbling to the surface showed up as dreams too, wow that was weird and uncomfortable.
Eventually I had a major breakthrough. I have this part of me Human Design calls 'inner vision' where I can see images in my head as part of my daily experience. Well, I had this inner vision of me being lit on fire in a blue white flame, not a OMG I'M GOING TO DIE type of vision, but an empowering vision that felt good. So I saw a silhouette of my body burning with this powerful fire, and I began walking through walls leaving a hole in the wall with the shape of my body as if walls were no longer an obstacle for me. I walked through brick walls, steel walls, and reinforced concrete walls. This wasn't some weak thing that I was able to enjoy in the moment. It hit me all of a sudden while I was driving on a icy winter Pennsylvanian road on the side of a mountain, and I literally almost drove off the road but I was able to stop on the side until the experience passed. The experience was so powerful that soon after I quit my job, moved somewhere warmer, went on a hiatus from normal work for 7 months, traveled to Europe for one of those months. I also blew all my savings so, am definitely not advising anyone to do what I did in any way, shape, or form. I am simply being honest about my life because it will become important later, and like I said at the beginning, I really love sharing my own personal experiences.
This is the point where Human Design really stuck and all those other systems and modalities faded away. Human Design gave me a very precise way to experiment with my true nature to begin operating more reliably as myself. Plus it helps to feel that peace and satisfaction, it feels fucking amazing actually but I'll get to that later.
My investigative nature took hold and I started taking classes and certifications from Jovian Archive, IHDS (International Human Design School), and BG5. I hired certified Human Design coaches and purchased and consumed everything I could afford. This is the time, once I arrived home from Europe from my hiatus, I also began experimenting with solopreneurship and online business because I knew a traditional job wouldn't serve me in the future.
So that's my story and hopefully I gave enough information (or maybe more than you wanted) so you can gleam a bit for what I am trying to do now.
How has Human Design changed my life?
I can honestly say today that without Human Design, I would definitely be in a hospital bed still trying to mentally live out my life.
Once I learned enough to read the Human Design map that's called a bodygraph, I started experimenting with strategy and inner authority but mostly inner authority because I am emotional authority and that one is only clear over time, lots of time and patience because emotional clarity doesn't happen over night, it just doesn't work that way. For me, there was no other option, there was no choice, I had tried everything else and nothing was working and if the Human Design knowledge didn't help then I felt like I was doomed before the age of 40.
Human Design says it takes approximately 7 years to decondition the body once you're initiated into the knowledge. I know that seems like a long time but don't fret. It took around 2-3 years before I noticed positive changes in the way I felt in my body. I was feeling more confident in how I was making decisions, and I generally felt better about my life. I felt not as heavy, trapped, and hopeless. I knew this knowledge was working, and it was. Human Design is designed to be first understood through the mind and then practiced physically until the mental component is no longer needed because operating as oneself eventually becomes effortless where the mind doesn't need to involve itself in personal decisions.
And here I am today, 41 years old, sharing my experiences with the internet and I created a course to, hopefully, shortcut my lived experience into something someone can use right away.
So how has Human Design changed my life? Well, it's completely changed it. I've been experimenting with strategy and inner authority (and variables but that's more advanced knowledge) for more than 9 years. Today, I feel generally peaceful and satisfied. The work never ends though. Life is an ocean and navigating it is the only way through, there's no way to stop the waves, and Human Design is literally the only way through for all of us to live the life we were meant to live.
What's my passion today?
Today I still enjoy working with math and engineering, but I also enjoy interacting with other people. Listening to their stories and life experiences, I love it, like a lot. I enjoy Taoism, violin, observing, noticing, Alan Watts, J.R.R. Tolkien, consciousness (I am a Cross of Consciousness), and hanging out with my dog the Finnish Spitz little helion named Kettu (love you Kettu).
How can Human Design impact you?
I'll say this first, everyone needs a guide at first, everyone needs help in the beginning when learning to operate within your true nature, it's just how it works (yes even you manifesters out there).
Human Design will change your life if correct for you. And you'll know it, you'll feel it in your body, especially if you are able to listen to Ra's transcripts. His voice is powerful and life changing. (Ra is the original messenger of the Human Design knowledge). You'll always hear within the Human Design world the phrase "if correct for you", and that can seem confusing or even frustrating at first. All that means is you cannot mentally decide when the knowledge will work for you or not, it's a cellular transformation, a physical one, not mental at all. Don't worry though, if you are here reading this, you are very likely on the same fractal for this knowledge to work for you too, otherwise you'd be else where on the internet. You made it here for a reason, not a mystical one, because you are seeking real change within your own life.
Who do I like to work with as a coach?
As I just mentioned, the people that tend to find me are ones that are already willing to make progress and change within their own life. Honestly, it's really what I do, that's why I created the foundational course Inner Decision Making because that's where it all begins. I like to think people who find me are ones that have tried everything and nothing is working, or people who are going through a crisis in their life and need support. Life crisis's are kind of my thing, I've certainly been through enough of them and it's built right there in my own design.
Well I feel that's enough for this post. I hope you enjoyed, it's been a pleasure writing. Love yourself, bye for now.
